Housed in an old hat factory, this museum is a tribute to the hat industry, a traditional activity of great importance in the municipality of São João da Madeira. The museum aims to portray the industrial aspects, but also the human, social and cultural elements of a community in which hat-making played an important role. So, in addition to a mere exhibition of machinery, the aim is to show the lives of the workers in this industry and recreate the atmosphere of a time when no one went out without a hat.
