Hat felt factory

Fepsa

The world of high quality hat felts.

FEPSA was founded in 1969, in S. João da Madeira, thanks to the union of six hat manufacturers with roots in the early 20th century, and is to a large extent the consolidation of a very old industry in Europe, which in Portugal had a significant boost in the 18th century with the help of the Marquis of Pombal. In São João da Madeira, the strategic vision of these six industrialists in the hat-making sector, who decided to join forces and bring their production together in a single company, has created innovation in the sector.
Felt for hats is produced at FEPSA by men and women whose knowledge and dedicated work allow them to compete in a world of top quality, both in terms of products and services. From the outset, there has been a constant concern to innovate, a commitment to developing technology, flexibility to respond to a wide range of customers and the adoption of different principles for organizing production.
Felt is produced by randomly arranging animal fibers on a surface, creating a blanket, and felting them by compression and vibration, under the action of water and heat.
This manufacturing process has been known to man for thousands of years, and was one of the first manufacturing processes developed by man.

The unmistakable touch that turns hats into masterpieces.

The FEPSA universe is an exceptional benchmark in the production of felt for hats around the world. In this factory, traditional craftsmanship meets innovation, resulting in products that transcend simple functionality to become true works of art.

Fepsa stands out as a prime choice for manufacturers of high-quality hats around the world. Its meticulously designed and equipped facilities incorporate decades of experience in the production of fine felts, where every step of the process is masterfully executed.
