The old Cineteatro Imperador, inaugurated at the end of 1958, played the leading role as the city's concert hall for many years. However, as it fell into decline at the end of the last century, it stopped offering shows and eventually succumbed to a process of degradation. However, on the 50th anniversary of its opening to the public, the S. João da Madeira City Council put together the necessary conditions to start restoring the building, which was acquired by the municipality for around 1.2 million euros at the end of the first decade of this century.
Renowned architect Filipe Oliveira Dias led the development of this architectural project, resulting in the now renowned Casa da Criatividade. Keeping the exterior features of the old Cineteatro Imperador intact, this concert hall stands out in Portugal for its uniqueness, providing versatility in the arrangements of both the stage and the audience, with a capacity to accommodate around 400 spectators. The Casa da Criatividade's programming includes shows in the areas of theater, dance and music, demonstrating its commitment not only to presentation, but also to the development and support of young artists.

The Casa da Criatividade is only open to the public on show days.
Its doors will open 1 hour before the start of the show and close 30 minutes after it starts.
